For patients
Cash-pay means you pay the therapist directly for your session, at a price they list up front. You do not need insurance, a referral, or approval from an insurer to book. Many people prefer it because you know what a visit costs before you go, and you are not waiting on anyone to approve your care. You can still ask your insurer afterwards whether they reimburse out-of-network visits — that is between you and them.
Open Find PT and tap the city box. Before you type anything it lists the cities where therapists are currently available, with how many are in each. Start typing and it narrows down — tap a suggestion to fill it in. You can also filter by what you need help with, such as back pain or pelvic health, or search a therapist by name.
PTrend is free for patients. There is no membership and no booking fee. What you pay is whatever the therapist charges for the session, arranged directly with them. PTrend does not process payment for sessions.
No. Only a patient who has actually connected with that therapist through PTrend can review them, and that rule is enforced by the database, not just hidden in the app. A therapist cannot review themselves. Reviews cannot be edited or deleted once posted, by anyone, which is why a rating here is worth something. Reviewers appear as a first name and last initial, or anonymously if they choose.
It means a person at PTrend checked that the licence number the therapist gave appears on their state board. It is a check of licensure at a point in time. It is not a guarantee of quality or outcome, and not a confirmation that the licence is in good standing today. Please still do your own homework before starting care.
A featured listing is a paid placement. Therapists can pay a monthly fee to appear higher in search and on the home screen. It is advertising, not a recommendation from PTrend, and it says nothing about how good that therapist is. Every therapist here, featured or not, goes through the same licence check.
A sample listing we created to show how the directory works while we onboard real therapists in your area. Demo profiles are not real people, and you cannot book with them. Their ratings are illustrative examples, not patient reviews.
No. PTrend is a directory. We do not provide care, we do not employ the therapists listed here, and nothing in the app is medical advice — including the exercise library, which is general information only. Any care you receive is from that therapist, under their own licence. If your situation is urgent or life-threatening, call 911.
It goes to the therapist you sent it to. Be thoughtful about how much health detail you include before you have chosen someone you trust. See Privacy for what we store.
For physical therapists
Open the For PTs tab and tap Join PTrend. You will create a therapist account with your licence number and state, then fill in your profile — bio, specialties, rates, availability and a photo. We verify your licence before your profile goes live in the directory.
Yes. A basic listing is free: you appear in the directory, take bookings and message patients at no cost. Paid tiers exist for therapists who want more visibility, and you can see those plans once you have a therapist account.
You give your licence number and the state that issued it at signup. A person at PTrend checks it against that state board by hand — it is not automated. Approval typically takes about 48 hours. Until then your profile exists but is not visible to patients, and you will see its review status on your home screen. If something does not check out we tell you why rather than leaving you guessing.
Almost always because verification has not finished. Only verified therapists appear to patients — that is the whole basis for patients trusting the list. Check the status card on your home screen; if it says approved and you still cannot find yourself, email support and we will look.
Top placement in search results and a slot on the patient home screen, for a monthly fee. It is clearly labelled as a paid placement to patients, because passing advertising off as a recommendation is not something we are willing to do.
Yes. Reviews attach to you, not to an employer or a clinic. If you move practices they come with you. They are also permanent and cannot be edited or deleted — by you or by the patient — which is what makes them worth having.
No. You set your own rates and the patient pays you directly. PTrend does not process session payments and takes no percentage of them.
Yes. Your exact address is private unless you explicitly turn it on in your profile. Patients see your city so they can find you locally.
